Our Research Team

Knowledge is at the heart of all our solutions

HatchTech is – and always will be – a knowledge-driven company.
Since our foundation more than 20 years ago, scientific research has formed the basis of every innovation we develop. Today, our in-house Research Team brings together a diverse group of scientists and specialists – from PhD candidates to experienced researchers and project leaders. They share a common passion for improving chick quality, welfare and hatchery performance. Working from our headquarters in Veenendaal, the team conducts research in close collaboration with Wageningen University & Research and contributes to international poultry conferences and scientific publications. Their combined expertise in incubation, chick development and early feeding provides the foundation for HatchTech’s ongoing innovation and progress.

Meet our Research Team

Dr. Carla van der Pol

Carla holds a Master’s Degree in Animal Science and joined the Research Team in 2011. She began her PhD project on “Improving leg health in broilers through optimisation of perinatal bone development” in 2012 and received her doctoral degree in 2017. Since 2020, she has served as Research Manager at HatchTech, leading the company’s scientific projects and research collaborations.

Dr. Jan Wijnen

Jan completed his Master’s programme in Animal Sciences at Wageningen University in 2014 and finished his PhD project, which explored the robustness of broilers and the link between incubation, chick quality at hatch, and performance in the grow-out period. His expertise includes incubation temperature and early feeding — and how these factors influence later-life performance and disease resilience.

Jeroen Snijders MSc.

Jeroen completed his master’s programme in Biology at Wageningen University, specialising in animal adaptation physiology and behaviour. Since joining the HatchTech Research team in 2019, he has worked on the latest incubation and in-ovo sexing innovations HatchTech has to offer. He strives to have a positive impact on animal wellbeing and hatchery performance around the world, by gathering biological knowledge that can be translated into technical solutions.
