HatchTech has completed commissioning of its largest single project to date: a 72-setter, 36-hatcher installation for Nordic Poultry Group’s new mega-hatchery outside Malmö, Sweden. The facility has a design capacity of 4.2 million day-old chicks per week and runs entirely on MicroClimer technology.
Scale and precision at the same time
The challenge with facilities of this scale is maintaining the per-egg precision that laminar airflow delivers in a single machine across a fleet of 108 units operating in parallel. HatchTech’s project team developed a new synchronised loading protocol and a centralised HatchTech Connect installation that monitors all machines on a single dashboard.
“We chose HatchTech because we needed to scale without compromising quality. The uniformity data we saw from day one of production confirmed that was the right decision.”
— CEO, Nordic Poultry Group
Results in the first quarter
After 13 weeks of full production, Nordic Poultry Group reports a hatch rate of 87.4 % against a target of 85 %, an energy cost per 1,000 eggs set that is 38 % below the group’s previous facility benchmark, and zero unplanned stoppages attributable to the HatchTech equipment.
The Malmö facility is now certified under the GlobalG.A.P. Hatchery Assurance standard and is one of the first large-scale operations in Scandinavia to achieve that certification on its first audit.
