Impressive HatchCare field results attract attention in North America

September 15, 2016

Synergy Agri Group is achieving impressive field results since the opening of their hatchery in 2015. The hatchery is equipped with HatchTech MicroClimer Setters and HatchCare – the hatcher with light, feed and water. The positive field results at Synergy, have not gone unnoticed in the rest of the continent.

During the first 6 months of the year, the Nova Scotia based hatchery welcomed poultry professionals from all over the continent and beyond. The visitors were keen to see the hatchery with HatchCare, but also the results in the broiler operations of the company.

“HatchCare allows us to produce day-old chicks in a more welfare friendly system. The birds that hatch are notably more relaxed. Standing in the HatchCare unit, we see birds sleeping, eating or drinking; but never in panic, or panting. The good start in the hatchery is reflected in the day old chicks’ weight. On average we see a 20% higher day-old-chick weight at the day of hatch. The mortality levels in the field have dropped in extreme matters. We are currently under the 1.5% over the complete growing cycle. We strongly believe this can be done even better, as our last flock was delivered to the processing plant with a 2.9 KG, at 42 days, and a total accumulative mortality of 0.6% over the complete growing period!,” says Synergy Agri Group’s President (CEO) and also Shareholder, Mr. Ron Testroete.

“A day-old-chick born in HatchCare is healthier, better developed and better prepared for the challenges in later life. The Canadian field results show that the average live weight upon delivery of HatchCare chicks is approximately 10% higher compared to traditionally hatched chicks. This is not a one-time event, but a stable picture of their field results,” says HatchTech’s Commercial Director, Mr. Joost ter Heerdt.
